Our weekend...
Visiting Earth Fair, and making bird feeders
There were lots of animals to check out - donkeys, alpacas and baby goats to name a few.
Even Khloe enjoyed Earth Fair, and her new red teddy bear gift from Kristen
 Playing at home...
Khloe LOVES baby dolls
 Give baby a kiss.
If you say "nice baby", she'll give her baby a hug.
The baby was sleeping in bed, so the other one wanted to eat dinner in the high chair.
She's never looked so old.
Goofing around in Khloe's crib
Sweet baby girl!
Kayla loves live theater! She has seen 101 Dalmations, Alice in Wonderland and now Peter Pan on stage. We love tracking local theater productions around town and taking Kayla to these shows; it's great entertainment for low cost. After the show Kayla really wanted to meet Wendy but couldn't find her in the lobby where all the actors and actresses were greeting visitors. Wendy's mom heard that Kayla was looking to meet Wendy so she went and brought her out and "Wendy" came up to Kayla saying "I've been looking all over for you!" and Kayla said back to her "I've been looking all over for you too!" What a sweet girl she was to Kayla. It was a long show - over 2.5 hours - but it held Kayla's interest the whole time; I thought for sure she would be tired with it getting over near 10pm. At the conclusion of the show, Kayla asked "Is this intermission?" She was ready for another 2.5 hours! It was a great performance!

On the horizon

Kindergarten. It's a bad word. Please don't mention that word around our home right now because I don't want to think about it. Kindergarten has always been a far-off world, a world I was certain my daughter would never reach. I mean, babies don't go to Kindergarten, and she was going to stay my little baby forever. Now this reality is just on the horizon. How and when did this happen, that she will be five and heading off to real all-day school???? Isn't there one more year I can keep her at home so we can sleep in and play and shop together all day? I had a pit in my stomach all morning because today was Kindergarten Roundup - the day that all Kindergartner's from around the city become registered for fall Kindergarten class.

I remember when other friend's children were in Kindergarten. I always thought those kids were sooooo old. In my mind those parents no longer had little kids, they had big kids. And not even a kid, but a regular person. Now I'm that parent. It's true, I have a school-aged child now. A regular school-aged person. That not only makes Kayla old, it makes me feel old. Boy, a baby turning one years old and my other baby preparing to go off to school, all in one week. Chest pains, shortness of breath and upset stomach. It's all too much at once!

An option I've considered many, many, MANY times is just to skip school all together and keep her home with me forever. If forever won't work, than maybe I'll just keep her home with me one more year and then send her to school in first grade. I've considered this option on many occasions, and this morning was no different.

However, I pushed the pit in my stomach away and we went to Kindergarten Roundup, with Kayla's BF Addison! Then the day ended by celebrating National Take Your Kids To Work Day at Daddy's work with pizza lunch, crafts, tours and playing!
Two beautiful, sweet, funny soon-to-be Kindergartner's!
They certainly are VERY ready for school and will be stellar students!

Kayla's first time on a school bus and my first time - in a looooooooong time! - on a school bus.

The Past and Present

We were reminded once again by many friends this weekend during Khloe's first birthday party about how much Khloe looks like Kayla, so I just had to go back in time and remind myself if I still think its true or not. I have a hard time seeing it; Aaron does not. I think they look like their own little person! In fact, more than anything, I think Khloe looks like her Daddy. Even the lady in the church nursery this morning reminded me of it again. If nothing else, we love to reminisce about what Kayla looked like soooo long ago at Khloe's age! It's hard to remember little Pookster like that! We get caught up in looking through old photos and videos, and then hours later, after I've procrastinated housework long enough, I come up with these side by side comparisons of Kayla and Khloe at 12 months old...
What little sweeties!
This was just too much fun!
(This was waaaaaaaaaay more rewarding than housework, but now its late and I'm tired and my chores are not done. Oh well.)

Welcome

We begin our new family diary!
